Welcome Paxton!!

Paxton is three weeks old today! I can hardly believe how fast time has gone. Part of the reason I can't believe he is three weeks old is because his due date is still a week away! Paxton came into the world with the best story ever.... I know I'm bias, but really he did!

On February 12 I was at my baby shower thrown by my wonderful church family, better known as my friends. It was an amazing shower with wonderful food and decorations! I really enjoyed the food... Had I known the next events I would have eaten more!!

It was time to open presents! I got about half way through opening presents and a HUGE change of events took place. I was getting ready to open a present and I felt a little weird. I got up to go to the bathroom when....MY WATER BROKE!!! For real! I guess Paxton was ready to wear all his new clothes that he was getting. This was at 3:40.

So, I had someone get my hospital bag out of my car. I was hoping I  had some extra clothes in there but, I didn't. I only had my bag half packed because I was doing that all on Monday. After all, I had four more weeks! While people were running around trying to find me clothes, others packed all the gifts in my car. Amanda called Josh, who was at work, and his reaction was really funny! He kept saying, "seriously? seriously?" Then Amanda called my mom and the phone calls continued.

 Just got into the hospital

I wasn't having contractions so I really did not want to go to the hospital, but since my water broke I had to. So we get all checked in underway and I'm only 1-2 cm dilated, but he's +1 in the birth canal.  I had my labor all planned out! I was going to go all natural and I had all these plans about how I was going to go through labor. However, things yet again changed. My blood pressure sky rocketed! I never have had problems with my blood pressure, so this was a surprise! It was so high, the doctor was worried about me having seizures. So, he put me on bed rest and gave me this magnesium stuff to help with lowering my blood pressure. This was around 6:00 pm.

I started having contractions and then all of the sudden they slowed way down....thanks to the magnesium stuff. That stuff was nasty! I felt so weak and couldn't even get up and walk to the bathroom.  I was getting pretty miserable because of the drugs and being tired. Around 2:30 am my mom and granny got to the hospital.

Josh was able to get some sleep and ll through the night he kept saying, "seriously? seriously?" haha! I think he was reliving that afternoon!

Around 9:00 the next morning, the doctor came to check on me and my blood pressure still had not gone down to a good level. As my contractions got stronger, my blood pressure kept getting higher because of the pain. So, he recommended me having an epidural because it would lower my blood pressure....so that's what I did.

After the epidural was in, my blood pressure bottomed out....of course. So I had to get medicine to help bring my blood pressure back up and get oxygen. Since my body was in such distress, they had to put an internal monitor on Paxton to keep up with his heart rate.

I still wasn't dilating much or having many contractions at this point, so they gave me pitocin since my water had broke and time was ticking.
 It's time for baby!

Finally around 5:00 pm on Monday I was dilated and ready to push for that baby! At 6:58 pm on February 13th, 2012 Paxton Aaron Collins entered this world! He was 20 1/4 inches and weighed 7 pounds. He was absolutely gorgeous!

Obviously things did not go as planned, but we welcomed our little miracle man into this world!

Proud daddy!
